The Media Council for Self-Regulation (MSS) strongly condemns today's decision to ban journalists, videographers and photo-reporters from entering the plenary hall of the Parliament of Montenegro, on the day when an extraordinary session was scheduled, and the agenda of the proposal for the dismissal of Parliament Speaker, Andrija Mandić.

On September 15, a group of young journalists from Kosovo visited the Media Council for Self-Regulation (MSS), as part of the Media Fellowship Program organized by the OSCE Mission in Kosovo.

The Media Council for Self-Regulation strongly condemns the threats addressed to the editor-in-chief of TV E, Draško Đuranović. We demand from the Police Administration and the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica to immediately identify the person who threatened Đuranović's life, and to treat that act as a threat to security, and not as an incident of lower intensity that is resolved as a misdemeanor or allowed to expire.

Standardised Form for Easier Submission of Requests for Publication of Answers and Corrections

The Media Council for Self-Regulation (MSS) today presented the handbook "Right of Reply and Right of Correction" at the European House in Podgorica. It was prepared by the MSS in cooperation with professor of media law at the UCG, Aneta Spaić; ombudswoman of daily newspaper Vijesti and weekly Monitor, Paula Petričević; and the ombudsman of the daily newspaper Dan, Ilija Jovićević.

The Media Council for Self-Regulation strongly condemns the intrusion into the editorial office of the Standard portal and the decision of the Court for Misdemeanors in Podgorica that the perpetrator should be symbolically punished with a fine of 150 euros.

The revised version of the Code of Ethics of Journalists of Montenegro was presented today in Podgorica.

The working group, composed of representatives of the Media Council for Self-Regulation and the media ombudsmen and ombudswomen of Dan, Vijesti, Monitor and RTCG, has developed a number of practical tools for journalists in the past few years.

The Media Council for Self-Regulation expresses serious concern about the decision of the authorities of the Republic of Serbia to ban the entry of journalist and author of the show "Načisto" Petar Komnenić, presenting it as a reciprocal measure after Montenegro banned the entry of Informer's editor-in-chief, Dragan J. Vučićević.

The Media Council for Self-Regulation participated in the Fifth Regional Meeting of Press and Media Councils from Southeast Europe and Turkey, which was held on 22nd and 23rd June, 2026 in Sarajevo. The meeting was organized within the framework of the UNESCO project "Building trust in the media in Southeast Europe: Supporting journalism as a public good", financed by the European Union.

The Media Council for Self-Regulation (MSS) continued its cooperation with Reporters Without Borders (RSF) on the implementation of the Journalism Trust Initiative (JTI). Within this cycle, MSS was a direct mentor and coordinator, and ten more media from Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia were put through the self-evaluation process.

In just a few days, almost all the levers of the state, the security service, the prosecution, the police and the court, turned against Montenegrin journalists. We are no longer talking about incidents, but about a pattern.
